Tompkins Square Park
After the shantytowns were razed in 1991, new pathways were laid out under the beautiful old shade trees, and today local residents make full use of the three square blocks of spruced-up greenery. Even on cool days, the chess and checker tables are busy and the dog-run full. On any given weekend you may stumble across a free concert or arts festival in the park..
